Our application process: your path to joining our team
After your job application arrives, we will usually confirm receipt within two workdays. Then you need to have a tiny bit of patience: we will need to review your documents and consult with the responsible members of our staff.
You will typically hear from us within a week. You can apply directly via our careers page or by email to jobs@starface.com. If your application sparks our interest, we’ll invite you to an interview.
Because of the pandemic, we’re currently using our proprietary STARFACE NEON tool to conduct all interviews. Someone from the HR department usually joins the conversation. Our initial aim is to get answers to some important questions. Who you will talk to in the second interview depends on the position you are applying for. As a rule, one or more members of our HR department and the head of the department concerned will participate. Depending on the department and/or position involved, you may then be asked to complete a small task and/or invited to meet the team.
If we then agree that you would be a good fit to us and vice versa, and if you’re also attracted by the spirit and think that you would thrive here with us, then … welcome to our team!
We want you to feel good with us from the moment you sign the contract, even if may be a while until your first actual day at work. In the meantime you’re welcome to join our team events. This will give us a chance to get to know one another better in a relaxed atmosphere.
You’ll be a full-fledged member of our company’s team from the very first day, and we warmly welcome you!
Your first half-day is spent at an onboarding event with the HR department. Then we show you around and take you to your new team. You’re assigned someone to contact for whatever reason, and receive all of the paraphernalia you need for work, as well as an onboarding folder containing all important information.
During the following weeks, you undergo thorough training and preparation for your tasks and go on a virtual tour in which all of the departments introduce themselves. You also get to have lunch with the management team and riddle them with as many questions as you like.
Our corporate culture includes employee talks and regular development conversations. After eight weeks you’ll have your first feedback meeting with your supervisor and HR, followed by additional meetings after two and six months. Our aim is to make sure that you feel good with us and that everyone is happy with how it’s working out.
Here's how employees have evaluated us.
Careers – FAQs
Although we’re on a first-name basis at our company, we address candidates formally by their last names in the first talks. Depending on the position involved, it can be hard for us to tell in advance how they want to be addressed. So we play it safe by being more “respectful”. But you’re welcome to give us permission to call you by your first name if that feels right for you.
- The earliest date when you could start and your salary expectations
- Résumé: informative, complete, in chronological order, and meaningfully organized
- Photograph (optional)
- Letter (optional): an informative résumé is more important to us than a standardized letter. So you don’t need to include one when applying for an advertised position if you don’t feel like it. There are only a couple of exceptions (described in the following). If one of these cases applies to you, please include a letter to help us understand your motivation and reasons for applying:
- New work challenge: If you are applying to us because you want to face new professional challenges (for example, to launch a new career) and your past experience at first glance doesn’t seem to fit to the advertised position, please help us understand your motivation and reasons for applying.
- Speculative applications: If you aren’t applying for an advertised position, besides your résumé we’ll need additional information from you in order to assess better which job would fit best to you and your interests, abilities, and past experience. For this reason, please include an informative letter. We will then be happy to check whether we might be planning a position that would be right for you, even if it hasn’t (yet) been advertised.
- Letters and/or certificates documenting your past work experience and additional qualifications
- Tips for job interviews:
- We need to find out whether we’re a good match for one another and whether you would feel well and continue your personal development with us. So please be honest and authentic.
- Requirements for virtual job interviews:
- A camera and microphone and a reliable Internet connection
- No background noise
- We don’t mind the presence cats, dogs, or other pets!
If you are coming by car, there are parking facilities nearby at
- Scheck-in-Center
- Badisches Staatstheater
- Marktplatz
- Kronenplatz
- Luisenstrasse
We will reimburse the costs of coming and returning by public transportation (2nd class) or using your own car (30 euro cents per kilometer). Please give us the receipts. If you use any other form of transportation, it must be clarified with the HR team in advance. Thank you for your understanding!
Your application will be treated confidentially. We store your application documents in a protected application management system that only authorized individuals may access. All of the applicable data privacy requirements (which you can view here) are complied with.
We have also continued actively hiring during the pandemic – naturally while doing everything possible to safeguard everyone’s health. We therefore respond flexibly to the current situation as it changes and try to adjust our process accordingly. Currently we’re conducting the first interviews with our proprietary STARFACE NEON system and making dates for in-person interviews at a later time. After all, both sides need to feel safe during the interviews. So if we invite you to a personal interview but you don’t feel good about attending it, just let us know – we’ll understand.
We talk with you to find out when you would like to start and try to arrange it.
We want you to feel your best. So no, there aren’t any rigid rules on how you dress.
