From Startup to Innovation Leader
On July 4, 2005, STARFACE founders Florian Buzin and Barbara Mauve registered their company with the Mannheim Commercial Register. Both were convinced that the future belonged to professional telephony via the internet. “VoIP was on the rise in the early 2000s and had the potential to disrupt the ICT market dominated by large corporations,” recalls STARFACE CEO Florian Buzin.
The German VoIP market – and with it STARFACE – gained significant momentum with the announcement by Deutsche Telekom to phase out ISDN telephony. STARFACE experienced a real boom during the pandemic.
“At the start of the pandemic, we enabled numerous companies to transition their business communication and operations to home offices. This was made possible thanks to STARFACE’s cloud solution, which did not require on-site installations (such installations were not allowed during the pandemic), and this massively boosted our market share,” explains Florian Buzin.
In recent years, STARFACE has grown through the formation of the STARFACE Group, which now includes other ICT companies like estos, TeamFon, and vio:networks.
Growing Together
“The 20 years have flown by,” comments Buzin on the anniversary. “It has been an incredibly intense and exciting journey, during which we have risen to challenges and continually developed step by step. From the small STARFACE of the early years, we have grown into a significant player in the German ICT landscape. We owe this to all our employees, who have accompanied us on this journey with motivation and dedication, as well as to our loyal STARFACE partners who believe in our products and form a strong partner community. Last but not least, this success is thanks to our customers, who place their trust in us and use our products.”
Since February 2025, the STARFACE Group has been part of the British ICT corporation Gamma. “This will accelerate our journey to the next level,” says Florian Buzin confidently. “As part of an international corporation, we gain completely new perspectives in terms of development speed and performance. At the same time, we will continue to uphold and embody the unique STARFACE spirit that has made us so successful in the first 20 years of the company.”
